Our prayers for the victims of the Great east japan earthquake

Mimi’s owners had to flee Fukushima shortly after the triple disaster of March 11th, 2011. She has been sheltered and loved at HEART for almost three years now. Still living in temporary housing that doesn’t allow pets, her owners have given up hope of being reunited and have asked us to find her a new home.

​Tomorrow marks the third anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake.  Our thoughts and prayers are with those that lost their lives, those who have lost loved ones and those who are still unable to return to their homes.  Three years on and still so many are still struggling.

Thanks to your support, more than 100 animals from the disaster were sheltered at HEART and 35 cats and dogs remain in our care today. 

We have had many happy endings with animals being reunited with their owners in the year following the earthquake and many, many others finding new homes over the past few years. 

​明日で東日本大震災から丸3年が経ちます。震災で命を落とした方、愛する家族や友人を失われた方、そしてまだ帰宅することが出来ないでいる方のために手を合わせて祈りたいと思います。3年経ってもまだ多くの方が苦しい生活を余儀なくされています。


皆様からの暖かいご支援・ご協力の元、100匹以上の被災動物をHEARTで保護いたしました。その内の35匹を現在でもお世話しています。


震災後1年の間に飼い主さんの元へ無事戻れた幸せな子たちもいれば、時間がかかりましたが、新しいお家に貰われて行った子たちもいます。

Erika was rescued in Fukushima immediately after the disaster and found her forever home later that year. We receive frequent updates from her family. Just last week we received this picture. She is very loved and is doing great.

​We have also had sad goodbyes with some of our older rescues.  They will remain in our hearts forever.

と同時に、悲しみの中、さようならを言わなければならなかった子達もいました。彼らのことは思い出とともに胸の奥に刻み、決して忘れることはありません。

Mariam was rescued from animal control in Miyagi prefecture in July of 2011. She was estimated to be about 8 years old at that time. Mariam passed over to Rainbow Bridge this past January after suffering a stroke. She was very much loved and we will miss her smiling face.

For our 35 animals that we are still caring for three years after the accident, as well as the other 200 animals we have at the shelter, we need your continued support.  Please consider donating to help us keep our doors open for animals in need.
