When I had spoken to the owner of the cats earlier, I had confirmed the number of cats with him. However, when we arrived at the scene, we found out that a number of them had be been hiding and the owner had no idea how many cats there actually were. We found out that there were actually 11 cats and 8 kittens.
We brought back the 8 kittens, the mother, as well as another very friendly adult cat for a total of 10 cats (see above photo). We plan on going again to pick up the remaining 7 adult cats.
However, the story doesn't end here. On the way back to the shelter, the head of HEART found a box in front of a nursery school in the same town when we were driving by. I didn't notice it, but the head of HEART told me to pull over and take a look. We found 4 kittens even smaller than the ones we had just picked up, that had been abandoned on the roadside.

We spoke to the person responsible at the nursery school who said they had just noticed the abandoned kittens and didn't know what to do, and were about to take them to the police. We had never even dreamed that we would find even more kittens on the way back, but decided to take them back to the shelter with us.
This same day, we rescued 4 kittens abandoned at a construction site plus the 4 kittens found in the box for a total of 18 animals. This turned out to be a huge rescue day for us.

Some of the cats were healthy, but some had colds and had seriously weepy eyes and runny noses. It seems that the abandoned kittens found on the side of the road had just been separated from their mother and could not eat or drink milk on their own. It's going to take some time before we can put these ones up for adoption.
Please help us so that we can send these guys to new homes.
We also need help for vaccinations, other medical care, costs for the construction of a cat house where they can run around freely once they get bigger, as well as food, cat toys and cat towers. Please see the wish list at http://www.amazon.co.jp/registry/wishlist/1UFXLEF3OU60B if you can help. We are very grateful for your assistance!!
