(Thank you to B.M. for translating our Japanese blog post into english!)
We received a call from an elderly man. His wife was in the hospital, and due to his own advanced age, he was no longer able to look after his 6 cats that were not spayed or neutered, or his 7 kittens. He couldn't find anyone else who could look after the cats, and was in some trouble. As well, he didn't have enough money to have them all spayed and neutered.
Such cases are not at all uncommon in the countryside in Japan. The only choice left for these cats was the pound where he knew that they would end up being gassed to death.
Unfortunately we were not able to immediately say, "Okay, we'll rescue them." We at HEART are grappling with a lack of funds and a lack of help. This is because we take responsibility for the animals and look after them until the end.
If anyone can help us with this rescue including funds, temporary or permanent homes, or can volunteer with us at HEART, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
