An SOS from cats with nowhere to go

We received a call from an elderly man.  His wife was in the hospital, and due to his own advanced age, he was no longer able to look after his 6 cats that were not spayed or neutered, or his 7 kittens.  He couldn't find anyone else who could look after the cats, and was in some trouble.  As well, he didn't have enough money to have them all spayed and neutered.

Such cases are not at all uncommon in the countryside in Japan.  The only choice left for these cats was the pound where he knew that they would end up being gassed to death.

Unfortunately we were not able to immediately say, "Okay, we'll rescue them."  We at HEART are grappling with a lack of funds and a lack of help.  This is because we take responsibility for the animals and look after them until the end.

ご高齢の男性から電話がありました。奥様が入院されてご自身も高齢という事もあって、これ以上6匹の（未去勢）の猫と7匹の子猫を面倒見切れないと相談がありました。この方は面倒を見てくれる家族も協力してくれる人もおらず、大変こまっている様子でした。もちろん避妊去勢の費用も当然ありません、と。

日本の田舎ではよくあるケースです。この猫達に残された唯一の選択肢が管理センター行きで、その後殺処分になるのも分かっています。

残念ながら即座に「レスキューします」とは返答出来ませんでした。我々HEARTも資金不足、人手不足に悩んでいるからです。すでに保護をしている動物達を最後まで責任を持ってお世話するのが先決ですから。
