NPO HEART
ABOUT US
HEART was founded in 2006 by Canadian Susan Mercer as an animal welfare organization with the aim of creating a community free of suffering and cruelty for dogs and cats.
HEART protects, treats and finds homes for abandoned and abused animals. It also promotes animal neutering and spaying and neutering, and encourages responsible pet ownership. HEART operates as an animal rescue facility in the Shikoku region to achieve its long-term goal of "reducing the number of underprivileged dogs and cats through neutering and spaying." HEART is a registered NPO rescue organization run solely on a volunteer basis and funded entirely through donations.
We are based in Tokushima, Japan and our aim is to build a community in which companion animals can live free from suffering or cruelty. Our activities include rescue, care and re-homing of stray, abandoned, abused and neglected animals. We also promote spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership through education and supportive means.
