Adopt from HEART
All HEART animals have been rescued and come from various backgrounds. They’re now looking for loving forever homes where they can thrive. To ensure the best match for both the animals and their new families, we’ve created a simple three-step adoption process.
*Adoptions are limited to Japan and must be within a reasonable driving distance from Tokushima.
*We are unable to facilitate international adoptions.
Our 3-Step Adoption Process
Step 1: Apply
Complete our application form so we can understand your lifestyle and the environment you’ll provide for your new companion.
Step 2: Home Check
To ensure your home is ready for your new furry family member we need to do a home check. If distance or scheduling makes this difficult, please share photos of your home and garden via email.

Step 3: Adoption Contract
After HEART staff have decided which animal is right for your lifestyle and home, you’ll review and sign our adoption contract to finalize the process.
Once rescued, our animals deserve a safe and loving home. To ensure this, we carefully review adoption applications, conduct home visits, and require photos of the living environment.
Adoption Requirements:
- All HEART cats and dogs must be kept indoors as family members, receiving love and security.
- Pets are a lifelong commitment—dogs and cats can live 15–20 years, requiring care, time, and financial stability.
- Consider your ability to provide for them throughout their lives, including potential health issues as they age.
If you share HEART’s mission and are ready to welcome a new family member, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!
